The Congress party it seems have learnt its bitter lessons from losing in Manipur, Meghalaya, and Goa. The party that was denied power by the BJP despite having more seats have it seems decided to give the BJP a taste of its own medicine.
In a day of dramatic twist , BJP was set to form government of its own when its tally reached an impressive 119 in one the news channels. But suddenly around afternoon things changed dramatically, BJP numbers fell to 104 – 105 while The Congress tally was around 77-78 , the JD ( S) had a tally of 38 While others were 2.
In a effort to save Karnataka from BJP, Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi finally stepped in and dramatically offered the chief Minister’s post to JD( S) and Congress would give unconditional support. If the alliance stakes claim to form government then HD Kumaraswamy will be the new chief Minister. The Congress – JD ( S) alliance has 117 MLA’s. Outgoing CM , Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too told the media that the Congress would support the Janata Dal (Secular).
The sudden Congress – JD ( S) alliance has thus spoiled the BJP party’s plans for grand celebration at the party Headquarters in Delhi .
The BJP though has not given up yet, According to media reports, BS Yeddyurappa has appealed to the governor that being the leader of the single largest party he would like to stake a claim at forming the government. He said that he would like to prove his majority in at the floor of the House, CNN-News18 reported.
All eyes will be now on the Governor on what he decision he takes ahead. This has been stunning dramatic twist to the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018
