Penguin is set to release JAMLO WALKS to mark the one-year anniversary of migrant workers walking home post the biggest lockdown announced last year due to COVID-19.
This book is dedicated to the memory of Jamlo. Her walk needs to be remembered if we want to create a world that shares resources fairly, a world that listens to everyone’s voices, a world that is just and kind.’
The book marks the one-year anniversary of migrant workers walking home. It has been a year since the lockdown was announced, with only 4 hours of notice and when Indians across took to the streets to walk home when all means of livelihood dried up.
Even though things seem to be drifting back to some version of normalcy, we still see inequality every day. We still see voices being crushed and our humanity dying.
