Known as one of the game’s most destructive players AB de Villiers, produced a sensational unbeaten 39-ball 90 to help Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils by six wickets in their Indian Premier League encounter at the full house M Chinnaswamy stadium, in Bengaluru.
South African legend was at his devastating best and smashed 10 fours and 5 sixes and single- handedly powered his side to win the match. He along with captain Virat Kohli (30) added 63 , before adding another 56 runs with Corey Anderson (15) to take the game away from Delhi Daredevils. For Delhi it was their fourth loss in five matches. DD at one stage had the match in their grasp but De Villiers with his astonishing batting had other ideas.
Earlier , Delhi Daredevils recovered from a slow start to post a respectable 174-5 after being asked to bat by RCB skipper Virat Kohli. Both openers Jason Roy (5) and skipper Gautam Gambhir (3) fell early as they were unable to take advantage of the power play . But young guns Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant played brilliantly and helped DD reach a fighting total .
Pant (85) shared a 75-run stand in 8.1 overs with Iyer (52 off 31 balls) and then forged a 65-run partnership with Rahul Tewatia (13 not out). His 48-ball innings was laced with six boundaries and seven sixes.
For RCB, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (2/22) claimed two wickets, while Umesh Yadav (1/27), Washington Sundar (1/31) and Corey Anderson (1/10) took one wicket each.
