Given a chance to experiment ahead of yet another tense tie against Pakistan On September 21, India beat Oman by 21 runs . Winning the toss , India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav seeking to give his batsmen especially the middle- order a chance to score ahead of potential tough contest ahead chose to bat first.
Abhishek Sharma was in his usual blazing mood and blasted a 15 ball 38 with five fours 2 sixes. Shubman Gill would be disappointed out cheaply for 5 . Sanju Samson made most of his smashing 56 0ff 45 balls with 3 fours , 3 sixes. Hardik Pandya flopped out for 1. Axar Patel played nice 13 ball cameo of 26 runs. Shivam Dube missed out and was out for 5 . Tlika Varma scored 29. Captain SKY promoted other and did not bat . India who would loved to score above 200 plus given the Oman attack could score 188/8 in their 20 overs. Given the power unit this total was below par.
Oman bowling attack would be pleased restricting the power India batting-line up . Shakeel Ahmed 0/33( 3 overs) , Shah Faisal 2/23( 4 overs) , Mohammad Nadeem 0/19 ( 1 over) , Jiten Ramanandi 2/33( 4 overs), Samay Shrivastava 0/23 ( 2 overs) , Zikria Islam 0/23 ( 3 overs), Aamir Kaleem 2/31 ( 3 overs).
In reply Oman were gritty and took the fight to India. Skipper Jatinder Singh showed the way with opening the innings with 32 ( 33 balls , 5 fours). Aamir Kaleem impressed with his fine knock of 64 ( 46 balls, 7 fours, 2 sixes). He was well supoorted by Hammad Mirza who struck a fine 51 ( 33 balls , 5 fours , 2 sixes). Oman batsmen gave a good account of themselves. And despite some brave efforts Oman fell 21 run short and could reach 167/4 in their 20 overs. Batsmen who remained not out were – Zikria Islam 0 and Jiten Ramanandi 12 .
India bowlers used the oppostunity to get the rhythm.. Jasprit Bumrah was rested. Arshdeep Singh became the first bowler to bag 100 T20I wickets with his 1/37 effort.
