In front of a full house at the newly built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, India produced a clinical all- round performance to thrash Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the first T20I.
India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav had no hesitation in opting to bowl first . And his bowlers set the tone with early wickets and Bangladesh just could not get the momentum in their innings . The listless batting show saw Bangladesh bowled out for mere 127 in 19. 5 overs. The batting scorecard said it all – Parvez Hossain Emon ( 8), Litton Das ( 4), Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto ( 27 ), Towhid Hridoy ( 12), Mahmudullah ( 1), Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored an unbeaten 35 but it was not enough. Indian bowling attack was on top from the start. Arshdeep Singh leading the way with fine figures 3/ 14 ( 3.5 overs), Speedster Mayank Yadav made a fine debut 1/ 21( 4 overs) , Hardik Pandya 1 / 26 ( 4 overs). Staging a comeback after a while Varun Chakravarthy impressed with 3/ 31 ( 4 overs), Nitish Reddy 0/ 17 ( 2 overs), Washington Sundar 1/ 12 ( 2 overs)
In reply India were hardly bothered , Sanju Samson gave a fine start with an attacking 19 ball 25 with six fours. His co- partner Abhishek Sharma was unfortunately run-out for 16. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav showed his aggression with a 14 ball 29 with 2 fours and 3 maximums before he was dismissed.
Debutant Nitish Reddy not out 16 and Hardik Pandya with dazzling cameo not out 39 ( 16 Balls, 5 fours , 2 sixes) saw India home comfortably. India reaching 132/ 3 in 11. 5 overs.
Bangladesh had a game to forget as the bowlers did not have the target to defend. Shadman Islam 0/ 17 ( 2 overs) , Taskin Ahmed 0/ 44( 2.5 overs), Mustafizur Rahman 1/ 36 ( 3 overs) , Rishad Hossain 0/ 26 ( 3 overs) , Mehidy Hasan Miraz 1/ 7 ( 1 over)
