Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to field first in the first T20 against India at Vizag . And much to delight of the Aussie skipper his bowlers did a splendid job in restricting India to 126 for 7 in 20 overs.
The much talked about Indian batting flopped. Opener K L Rahul only came good with a timely 50 . The best partnership was 55 for the second wicket between Rahul and captain Virat Kohli 24 from 17 balls. After Kohli fell the batting fell apart from 80 for 2 it crashed to 100 for 6. Rohit Sharma ( 5) , Rishabh Pant run out ( 3) , Dinesh karthik ( 1), Krunal Pandya ( 1). For the Oz Nathan Coulter-Nile took 3/ 26.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni struggled to get going and could mange only 29 of 37 balls . He remained unbeaten but his coring left lot to be desired.
Australia chasing a modest target struggled their way. Glenn Maxwell anchored the innings with a fine 56. , He added 84 runs for the third wicket with Darcy Short (37 off 37 balls). But they lost wickets in a hurry towards the end. But Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson scored and remained unbeaten on 7 as Australia finished off the match taking 14 of the last over bowled by Umesh Yadav . From Jaws of defeat, Australia held on to win a thriller by 3 wickets.
