Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a election rally in Rohtak, Haryana, lashed out at Congress leader Sam Pitroda for his 1984 anti- sikh riots comments.
Pitroda, while responding to the BJP’s claim that the instructions to kill Sikhs in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination had come from the office of the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, had said, “This is also another lie, and what about 1984? 1984 hua toh hua. Aapne kya kiya paanch saal mein, uski baat kariye. ’84 mein hua to hua. (You speak about what you have done in five years. It happened in 1984, so what?).”
The PM speaking in Rohtak latched on to the words saying, “‘Hua so hua’- the three words that sum up Congress’s arrogance were uttered yesterday by one of its most senior leaders. He said this on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. This leader is one of the closest people to the Gandhi family. They have no value for human life.
“Many Sikhs in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were targeted during the 1984 riots but today Congress is saying ‘Hua so Hua’ .”
