In front of the packed crowd at MCG, Australia the defending Champions played that way and India just fell apart. Batting first Australia posted an impressive 184 / 4 in their 20 overs . India in reply struggled right from the start and the batting flopped and the team was bundled out for mere 99. Australia winning by an emphatic 85 runs and clinching their fifth T20 World Cup title .
Earlier , deciding to bat first after winning the toss, Australia were powered by brilliant half-centuries from Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney .
Healy scored 75 off 39 while Mooney remained unbeaten with an aggressive 78 off 54 balls. These two power knocks demoralised India.
India in reply were disastrous. Only four batsmen reached double figures in miserable batting display on a big day. Deepti Sharma ( 33), Veda Krishnamurty ( 19 ), Richa Ghosh ( 18 and Smriti Mandhana ( 11) the rest flopped .
For Australia, the bowling stars were, Jens Jonassen with figures of 3 / 19 while Megan Schutt wrecked the Indianbatting with a superb four wicket haul of 4/ 18.
