England And Wales are getting ready to host the 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. To be played in 11 venues . England had hosted the mega- event in 1975, 1979, 1983, 1999 and now its host again 2019. It begins on May 30 and runs till July 14 . The tournament will see ten teams batting for the coveted trophy. Australia are the defending champions.
Hosts and one of the favourites for the title England begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on May 30 .
The World Cup will follow a different format this year, with all ten teams playing each other during the league stage, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals. This was the format that was followed during the 1992 World Cup in Australia- New Zealand.
One of the favourites Virat Kohli’s Team India open their cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 at Southampton. They take on defending Champions Australia on June 9 at the Oval , followed by New Zealand on June 13 at Nottingham. Then comes their biggest and most hyped encounter – versus Pakistan on June 16 at Manchester
Defending Champions Australia open their defence with their first match against Afghanistan on June 1 at Bristol. Australia had won the World Cup previously in years – 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015
