After a spectacular win in Gujarat, The BJP failed to retain Himachal Pradesh. The state which rotates government every five years.
Outgoing Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central BJP leadership for its support over the last five years. “We will stand for the development of the state irrespective of politics. We will analyse our shortcoming and improve during the next term,” he added.
Pratibha Virbhadra Singh, Himachal Congress president while reacting to the party’s win said, “People have given us the mandate, there is no need to fear. We can meet (our MLAs) anywhere including Chandigarh or in the state. Those who have won will be with us and we will form the government.

“Modiji visited Himachal Pradesh a number of times, but could he make a dent here? BJP knew it would lose in the State and that is why PM Modi visited the state again and again.” She remarked.
Meanwhile Congress leader in charge of the state Rajiv Shukla told reporters , “We are leading on 40 seats. We will implement 10 guarantees in the state. We aren’t afraid of ‘Operation Lotus’, if these figures continue then there won’t be any such situation.”
