#HaryanaViolence : Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Confirms 6 Dead,116 Arrested ; Deputy CM Slams Organisers ; Congress Slams Government’s Inept Handling Of Violence

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala has alleged that the Yatra organisers (VHP) did not give complete information to the district administration which caused the clashes in Nuh. He assured strict action against those responsible for the incident. The situation remained tense in Nuh and neighbouring districts following communal clashes between people of two communities triggered when VHP’s religious procession was stones pelted.

As per ANI report, Six people have died in communal clashes that began in Nuh on Monday and spilled over to affluent Gurugram a day later, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has vowed that the guilty will not be spared while he reiterated Wednesday that his government was committed to the safety of citizens.

Khattar said the “unfortunate incident” in Nuh had resulted in widespread loss, and that six people had died so far, including two home guards. “The injured are admitted in several hospitals… We are searching for the perpetrators and have arrested 116 people so far… We will interrogate them and catch the rest. Nobody will be spared as it is our duty to protect the people,” Khattar said .

“Six people including two Home Guards and four civilians have died in the incident. 116 people have been arrested till now. Their remand is being taken. Those found guilty will not be spared. We are committed to the safety of the public. The overall situation in the state is normal. Appeal to the public to maintain peace, calm and brotherhood,” said Haryana CM ML Khattar on Nuh violence to ANI .

The death toll in the communal violence in Haryana rose to six  with the Vishva Hindu Parishad reporting the death of a Bajrang Dal activist during treatment in a Delhi hospital. District Vice-President of Vishva Hindu Parishad Surendra Tanwar said during the violence in Nuh on Monday, Bajrang Dal activist Pradeep Sharma was attacked by the rioters and critically injured.

He was undergoing treatment at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital where he died, the VHP district vice-president said.

Saying the situation was under control, the chief minister appealed to the people to maintain peace and not listen to rumours.

Congress MP Randeep Surjewala told media persons outside parliament , “What was the government doing when these violent clashes broke out in Gurugram, Nuh, Sohna…This was the malice of the government (Haryana govt).”

“It is an administrative failure on the part of the government which led to this incident… Had they acted in time and deployed police, the situation wouldn’t have occurred…In the statement passed by the deputy CM, he also spoke about an administrative failure,” said Haryana MP Deepender S Hooda told ANI outside parliament.

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah told ANI outside parliament , “Whatever happened in Nuh is heartbreaking. Fighting over religion is not good for India. India is everyone’s country, every religion here has the right to grow.”
