The Election Commission Of India has announced the much awaited dates for the Gujarat assembly polls 2022. At media briefing , EC announced that First phase of Assembly elections in Gujarat to be held on 1st December & second phase on 5th December; counting of votes to be done on 8th December.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar further said, the date of counting for Gujarat Assembly polls will coincide with Himachal Pradesh on the 8th of December. The entire process of Assembly elections to be completed on the 10th of December.
182 Assembly seats to go to the polls in Gujarat.
CEC further warned, “If violation by any officers is found, we’ll deal with them very sternly,” the CEC said. At least 28 crores, including liquor, drugs and mining have been seized so far, he added.
The Election Commission announced that it was setting up over 1200 polling stations specially for women. To encourage young voters, 33 stations would be manned by the youngest employees while 182 stations will be manned by persons with disabilities.
According to EC, Several unique polling stations, including one in a shipping container, one set up for just one voter and one on an island in the Arabian Sea close to the town of Jafrabad, are being set up.
