BJP’s East Delhi MP and former India cricket team opener Gautam Gambhir said that he will donate his two year’s salary to PM-CARES Fund to support the battle against coronavirus pandemic in the country.
“People ask what can their country do for them. The real question is what can you do for your country? I am donating my 2 year’s salary to #PMCaresFund. You should come forward too! @narendramodi @JPNadda @BJP4Delhi #IndiaFightsCorona,” Gambhir tweeted.

Incidentally Ganbhir’s gesture came on the very day nine years ago on April 2, 2011, when he played a sterling role in India winning the 2011 ICC World Cup after 28 years against Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai. Gambhir scored a fighting 97 off 122 balls to fashion India’s historic win and steadied the Indian innings after the early dismissals of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave the final touches in the final.
