An Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on Monday night during a “violent face-off” with the Chinese, Army sources told news agency ANI.
“During the de-escalation process in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place last night with casualties. The loss of lives on Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers.
Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation,” the Army said.
As we file this story , China Foreign Ministry, when asked about Indian Army reporting casualties in clash with China, calls on India to not take unilateral actions or stir up trouble, says ANI quoting Reuters.
Earlier speaking on the reported stand- off with China , Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh had stated that India will never compromise on its “national pride”, asserting that it is no longer a “weak” country and that its security capability has increased.
“This is also our effort to defuse the tussle between India and China through military and diplomatic level talks,” he said, noting that the two countries are engaged in military level dialogue.
