Pakistan cricketers past and present have expressed shock and tweeted their anguish after hearing the assassination bid on cricket superstar turned politician and former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan at a rally in Wazirabad.
The charismatic Khan, who led Pakistan to its lone 50-over World Cup triumph in 1992, was shot and wounded in the leg in the attack but is said to be out of danger.
Leading the wishes and expressing concern was , Pakistan national team captain Babar Azam, who is in Australia for the ongoing T20 World Cup, tweeted. “Strongly condemn this heinous attack on @ImranKhanPTI. May Allah keep Kaptaan safe and protect our beloved Pakistan, Ameen. ”

Pakistan legend and member of the 1992 World Cup winning team Wasim Akram to tweeted his anguish , “Deeply disturbed about the events unfolding in Wazirabad. Our prayers with Imran BHAI and everyone there. We as a country must come together and not allow anyone to distort our national unity,” wrote on his Twitter handle.
