The Delhi police has reconstructed a chilling journey of Dr Umar Nabi — the accused the Red Fort blast that killed 13 people — showing how he travelled from Haryana to Delhi through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, halted for food at a roadside eatery, and spent the night inside his car before entering the national capital the next morning.
According to media reports, According to police sources, Umar’s movements — captured in footage from over 50 CCTV cameras — indicate meticulous planning and deliberate attempts to avoid detection. He was first spotted leaving Faridabad early Monday morning, making multiple halts, including one at a dhaba where he ate and another at a mosque where he offered prayers.
Investigations revealed that before the blast, Umar went to Firozpur Jhirka in Haryana.
He took the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway route, where he reportedly stopped at a roadside dhaba and spent the night inside his car. He appeared to be in hiding but not in panic. He avoided major towns, preferring highways and small eateries,” said a police source.
Meanwhile , A severed hand was found on the roof of a shop near the Red Fort blast site on Thursday morning, police said.
The hand was found a few metres away from the spot of the explosion, behind the Jain Temple, they said.
After being informed about the severed hand, police personnel immediately reached the location, cordoned off the area and collected it.
The severed hand has been sent for forensic examination to ascertain the victim’s identity, police said.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the blast rose to 13 after another injured person succumbed to his injuries at the LNJP Hospital in New Delhi, an official said.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has issued a show-cause notice to Al Falah University — which is under scanner following the Delhi blast — for displaying false certification on its website
