Indian weightlifters are having dream start to the CWG 2022, after clinching Silver and Bronze medals , Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu defends her title and gives India the first gold at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games on Saturday in the 49 kg category for a total lift of 201 Kg, thus setting a game record for the category.
Mirabai lifted a total of kg (88kg in Snatch & in C&J); huge 29kg more than 2nd placed lifter. She created New Games record in Snatch, C&J & Total
In clean and jerk lifting a 109 kg in her first attempt and then going better and lifting 113 kgs in her second attempt in the 49 kg category.
