South Africa continue to impress with their brand of aggressive cricket in this year’s CWC23 as they yet again came out with a solid all- round show to rout Bangladesh by 149 runs at an encounter in Wankhede, Mumbai
Electing to bat first after winning the toss on how humid conditions , South Africa blasted a massive total of 382 for 5 in their 50 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock who has played so many matches at Wankhede for Mumbai Indians in the IPL relished playing well at the venue. de kock was in-fact brilliant as he smashed his third hundred in this year’s World Cup . A superb 174 ( 140 balls, 15 fours, 7 sixes). Reeza Hendricks ( 12), Rassie van der Dussen ( 1) fell cheaply . But stand-in Skipper Aiden Markram scored 60 ( 69 balls , 7 fours) gave de kock fine support.
Later on in form and devastating Heinrich Klaasen joined the party and hammered the Bangladesh bowlers all-around and narrowly missed yet another blistering ton scoring 90 ( 49 balls, 2 fours 8 sixes). David Miller hit a quick unbeaten 15 ball 34 . Marco Jansen was the other batsman not out on 1.
Bangladesh bowlers had no answers to the Proteas onslaught. And their figures told the story : Mustafizur Rahman 0/ 76 ( 9 overs), Mehidy Hasan Miraz 1/ 44 ( 9 overs), Shoriful Islam 1/ 76 ( 9 overs) , Shakib Al Hasan 1/ 69 ( 9 overs), Hasan Mahmud 2/ 67 ( 6 overs), Nasum Ahmed 0/ 27 ( 5 overs), Mahmudullah 0/ 20 ( 3 overs)
Chasing a big total is never easy and Bangladesh found out quickly as the top order collapsed under pressure – Tanzid Hasan ( 12), Litton Das ( 22), Najmul Hossain Shanto ( 0), Skipper Shakib Al Hasan ( 1), Mushfiqur Rahim ( 8), Mehidy Hasan Mira ( 11). The tigers were reeling at 81/ 6 in 22 overs. The only solace for them was the ton by Mahmudullah 111 ( 111 balls, 11 fours, 4 sixes). Nasum Ahmed ( 19), Hasan Mahmud ( 15), Mustafizur Rahman ( 11) while Shoriful Islam was not out 6. Bangladesh bowled out for 233 in 46. 4 overs
