Colombo’s Iconic Paradise Road Debuts in Mumbai with Living Room Story x Anaita Shroff

The Living Room Story will debut a Paradise Road retail pop-up from the 14th to the 16th of November 2024 at Peace Haven in Bandra. The highly anticipated event will feature a curated selection of signature pieces including dinnerware, serveware, napery, objets d’art, and decorative accessories from the renowned Sri Lankan brand. Sanaa & Ashmi of The Living Room Story came to Sri Lanka and made the selection for the event with the guidance of Founder Udayshanth Fernando (fondly known as Shanth) and his daughter Annika Fernando. They ensured this special event would highlight the brand’s signature designs including iconic monochrome batik geometric soft furnishings along with timeless pieces that epitomize Paradise Road, all designed by Shanth Fernando.

“This isn’t the first time Paradise Road has been invited to showcase internationally and I’ve always been highly protective of my brand—it’s my life’s work.” Shanth Fernando shares. “Anaita Shroff Adajania proposed the idea of the pop-up to my daughter Annika earlier this year and she convinced me that Anaita and The Living Room Story would honor my brand, which gave me the confidence to endorse an official pop up for the first time in the history of Paradise Road. I am looking forward to it now and what excites me most is the chance to connect with those in India who have loved and appreciate Paradise Road”, shares Fernando.

Founded in Sri Lanka in 1987 by design entrepreneur Udayshanth Fernando, the brand was born in retail and later expanded into hospitality with the launch of its first café in 1994, followed by its first restaurant and art gallery – The Gallery Cafè and Paradise Road Galleries in 1998 and its first boutique hotel – Tintagel Colombo, in 2007.

All retail products are curated and designed by Fernando personally. Locally made items are manufactured by independent artisans ensuring a sustainable growth of Sri Lanka’s art and craft industries.

In December 2024, Paradise Road will open its new headquarters – a stand-alone contemporary structure in Colombo featuring a new Paradise Road retail store, restaurant, and gallery curated by Saskia Fernando of Saskia Fernando Gallery and Annika Fernando’s PR Concept Store.
