It is #Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai once again as Rajya Sabha passes Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in Rajya Sabha after Lok Sabha. It is yet another victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
The Rajya Sabha cleared the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) after an eight-hour debate that saw several Opposition leaders make their cases against it. The decision came after the Upper House rejected the motion to send the Bill to a select committee.
Division of votes:
AYES: 125

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in a tweet as he wrote. “A landmark day for India and our nation’s ethos of compassion and brotherhood! Glad that the CAB 2019 has been passed in the Rajya Sabha. Gratitude to all the MPs who voted in favour of the Bill. This Bill will alleviate the suffering of many who faced persecution for years.”
