It was Djokovic’s 8th Australian Open title. Thus proving why he is such a tough player to beat in Melbourne.
After winning the first set, Thiem threatened to cause a big upset as he won the next two sets. But Djokovic summoned all his Grand Slam experience to bounce back to win the final two sets to clinch the title . It was typical Djokovic. Gritty, relentless and not willing to give up. And he was smiling at the end . The win also ensured the Serb also reclaims the World number 1 ranking again.
