Having won a stunning victory in Madhya Pradesh after ousting the 15 year-old Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP government, Congress finally named a Chief Minister. And family loyalist 72 year-old Kamal Nath. He overcame stiff challenge from Jyotiraditya Scindia for the coveted job. The CM race was a battle between the old guard and the young .
And it Nath’s announcement as not at all a smooth affair . It was done after marathon round of deliberations between Congress president Rahul Gandhi with the contenders – PCC Chief Kamal Nath and campaign committee chief Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Scindiatoo threw his hat into the ring for the CM race only to retract later after been persuaded. The long delay tested the patience and put Rahul Gandhi’s leadership under severe test. Some even questioning if this is the delay to announce a name of party leader then one wonders what Congress will do in the eventuality of it getting the desired numbers after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls while deciding the Prime Ministership ? . As 48 hours had passed and Congress was still to announce a name for Chief Minister.
After series of late night talks, Congress president Rahul Gandhi posted a picture on twitter with Nath and Scindia quoting Leo Tolstoy
The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
