After losing the first T20 at Hyderabad, West Indies came out with all guns firing in the second T20 at Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium to level the series. They romped home with 8 wickets and nine balls to spare .
West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and asked India to bat first and their bowlers did a fine job restricting India to 170/ 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Indian batting did not click at all. Rohit Sharma (15), K L Rahul ( 11) , Shivam Dube played alone hand with his 30 ball 54. Skipper Virat Kohli ( 19 ). Under fire Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten with 22 ball 33. As India battled hard to reach 170 / 7 in 20 overs.
For West Indies, Hayden Walsh 2/ 28 (4 overs), Kesrick Williams 2/ 30 ( 4 overs) prized wicket of Virat Kohli too, Jason Holder 1/42 ( 4 overs) , Khary Pierre 1/11 ( 2 overs) , Sheldon Cottrell 1/ 27 ( 4 overs)
In reply The West Indies were very positive from the start and the openers put on 73 for the first wicket to give the momentum to the chase. Evin Lewis ( 40 ) off 35 balls was aggressive. He supported Lendl Simmons , ( 67 not out) off 45 balls brilliantly to stun India. India were again let down by some sloppy ground fielding . Shimron Hetmyer scored 23 off 14. But Nicholas Pooran dashed India’s hopes with a attacking unbeaten cameo 38 off 18 balls. The West Indian batsmen hit as many as 12 towering sixes.
For India, Ravindra Jadeja 1/ 22 ( 2 overs) , Washington Sundar 1/ 26 ( 4 overs) were the wicket- takers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0/ 36 ( 4 overs), Yuzvendra Chahal 0/ 36 ( 3 overs) , Deepak Chahar 0/ 35 ( 3. 3 overs) struggled to get wickets.
Both the teams now head to Mumbai for the final T20 series match on 11th.
