India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three match T20 series against Sri Lanka. In the first match they outplayed the hosts by 38 runs in Colombo. Sri Lanka Skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and asked India to bat first.
India lost opener Prithvi Shaw early for (0), Skipper Shikhar Dhawan ( 46), Sanju Samson ( 27) put India back into the game. The momentum of the innings came from in-form Suryakumar Yadav who struck a fine 34 ball 50 . Hardik Pandya’s miserable form continued as he fell for 10. Given his horrendous form he is unlikely to find a place in the T20 WC side . Ishan Kishan ( 20) played a cameo towards the end as India finished at 164 / 5 in their 20 overs .
For Sri Lanka , Dushmantha Chameera 2/24 ( 4 overs) , Chamika Karunaratne 1/34( 4 overs) , Wanindu Hasaranga 2/ 28 ( 4 overs) were the wicket-takers.
In reply, Indian bowlers made things tough for the hosts . Charith Asalanka ( 44) , Avishka Fernando (26) , skipper *Dasun Shanaka ( 16), Minod Bhanuka ( 10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. The rest failed. India bowling was top class . Bhuvneshwar (4/22 in 3.3 overs) was on target, He was backed up superbly by Deepak Chahar (2/24 in 3 overs) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/19 in 4 overs). As India bowled out the host for 126 in 18.3 overs to complete an emphatic win.
