#VIVOIPL 2019 : Mumbai Indians Pull Off An Upset, Beat Chennai Super Kings By 37 Runs
In the much awaited clash between the two three time IPL champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings , it was the Mumbai Indians who had the last laugh with a 37 run win at Wankhede .
CSK Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni anticipating the dew factor later on chose to bowl after winning the toss. The strategy it seems worked in the beginning . As Mumbai batsmen found the tight bowling of CSK hard to break free.
the hosts were at a precarious 50/ 3 at one stage , but late cameos by Hardik Pandya a blazing 8 ball 25 and good support form Kieron Pollard ( 17 off 7 ) meant that Mumbai finished at a fighting 170/ 5 in their 20 overs. Normally the most economical Dwayne Bravo conceded 29 runs in the final over. CSK conceded as many 45 runs in the last two overs and that changed the match at the end . Earlier Suryakumar Yadav stroked an aggressive 59 off 43 balls and Krunal Pandya chipped in with 42.
For CSK the wicket- takers were – Deepak Chahar 1/ 21 ( 3 overs), Mohit Sharma 1/ 27 ( 3 overs) Imran Tahir 1 / 25 ( 4 overs) Ravindra Jadeja 1/ 10 ( 2 overs) Dwayne Bravo 1/ 49 ( 4 overs)
In reply CSK did not have good start at all. Ambati Rayudu who was terrific last year continued his poor form and was out without scoring. Then all- rounder Shane Watson and Suresh Raina too fell early to rattle the CSK
Kedar Jadhav stroked a fluent 58, Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not last long and was out for 12. And CSK could manage 133/ 8 in their 20 overs.
For Mumbai Indians , their bowlers were spot along with their sharp fielding. Kieron Pollard pulled off two stunning catches to dismiss – Shane Watson and Suresh Raina.
Big Aussie pace bowler Jason Behrendorff made an impressive IPL debut and generated pace and bounce form the pitch. he had fine figures of 2/ 22 ( 4 0vers ) Lasith Malinga 3/ 34 ( 4 overs) Hardik Pandya completed a fine all- round show 3/ 20 ( 4 overs)
