Rajasthan Royals finally ended their Tata IPL 2025 campaign with a six-wicket win over five-time winners Chennai Super Kings, who finished at the bottom of the points table. Both RR and CSK have lot to re-think to do before the next season in 2026. It was a season to forget for both the sides.
Earlier RR Captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first. His bowlers bagged early wickets and helped restrict the CSK atting line-up to a modest chaseale target. Young Ayush Mhatre was the only bright spark at the top in the CSK batting show scoring 43 ( 20 balls, 8 fours, 1 six). The rest did not go on and it hurt CSK – Devon Conway ( 10), Urvil Patel ( 0), Ravichandran Ashwin ( 13), Ravindra Jadeja ( 1).
The lower order got some runs with hard-hitting Dewald Brevis 42 ( 25 balls, 2 fours 3 sixes), Shivam Dube 39 ( 32 balls, 2 fours, 2 sixes ), with powers on the wane CSK Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (16) . Anshul Kamboj not out 5 and Noor Ahmad 2 saw CSK stutter to reach 187/ 8 in their 20 overs.
RR Bowling : Tushar Deshpande 1/ 33 ( 4 overs), Yudhvir Singh 3 /47 ( 4 overs), Kwena Maphaka 0/22 ( 2 overs), Wanindu Hasaranga 1/27 ( 4 overs), Riyan Parag 0/26 ( 2 overs), Akash Madhwal 3/29 ( 4 overs )
In the chase RR were in no bother at all. Unlike previous games where they lost matches from winning , RR made amends tby chasing down the CSK total with ease. An attribute they missed in the league matches that led to their ouster from the play offs.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal set up the chase with a blazing innings before being dismissed for 36 ( 19 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes). The find of the season the teen sansation Vaihav Suryavanshi showed his talent with yet another fine innings of 57 ( 33 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes). RR Captain Sanju Samson scored a quick 41 ( 31 balls , 3 fours , 2 sixes), Riyan Parag was out cheaply for 3.
BUT RR suffered no further damage as Dhruv Jurel 31 not out ( 12 balls, 2 fours, 3 sixes) and along with Shimron Hetmyer not out 12 ( 5 balls, 1 four, 1 six) saw RR home comfortably reaching 188 / 4 in 17. 1 overs.
CSK Bowling : Khaleel Ahmed 0/35 ( 3 overs), Anshul Kamboj 1/21 ( 3 overs), Ravichandran Ashwin 2/41 ( 4 overs), Ravindra Jadeja /27 ( 2 overs), Noor Ahmad 1/42 ( 3 overs), Matheesha Pathirana 0/ 22( 2.1 overs)
