From Presidents, politicians, tech titans to Wall Street power brokers and foreign dignitaries, a who’s who of powerful men see their names appearing in the latest release of documents by the Department of Justice in connection with its investigations of Jeffrey Epstein. The world was left shocked and numbed as the names began to unravel. US President Donald Trump, former US President Bill Clinton, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Prince Andrew and the list goes on.

On December 2025, the Department of Justice released hundreds of thousands of documents related to the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplices. The “Epstein files” are an extensive collection of documents tied to two criminal investigations involving sex trafficking perpetrated by Epstein.

Epstein was a financier from the United States who was convicted of sex offences and faced allegations of serial trafficking of women and girls for sexual purposes. He later became a multimillionaire and associated with a network of wealthy individuals, influential politicians and even royalty. He was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. Epstein died in his jail cell in August 2019, with his death ruled a suicide.

The files have led to a wave of resignations and other uncomfortable fallout for high-profile people around the world whose dealings with him have been exposed. A few individuals include the top lawyer at major investment bank Goldman Sachs, the CEO of Dubai’s biggest port, a former president of Harvard University, a former U.S. president and an ex-secretary of State, and others. The latest figure to fall foul of his association with Epstein was the president and CEO of the World Economic Forum.

The fallout from the Epstein files and people mentioned in them has even imperilled the government of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, even though the Labour Party leader never knew the convicted sex offender.

A number of the people who have resigned their jobs in recent weeks had friendly dealings with Epstein after his 2008 conviction. All denied having anything to do with his sexual abuse of girls and young women. Yet some of them maintained friendships with Epstein, or developed them anew, even after news stories made him widely known as an alleged abuser of young girls.

Britain’s Prince Andrew has long been dogged by questions about his relationship with Epstein, including allegations from the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre that she was trafficked by Epstein and instructed to have sex with Mountbatten-Windsor when she was 17. The former prince has repeatedly denied that it happened, but his brother, King Charles III, still stripped him of his royal titles late last year, including the right to be called a prince and the Duke of York.
Mountbatten-Windsor’s name appears at least several hundred times in latest document release, including in Epstein’s private emails.

In March of 2011, Sarah Ferguson, then the Duchess of York, made a public apology for letting Jeffrey Epstein pay off some of her debts. Both she and her ex-husband, the former Prince Andrew, had come under tremendous public scrutiny for continuing a friendly relationship with Epstein after he pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.
The billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk turns up at least a few times in document release, notably in email exchanges in 2012 and 2013 in which he discussed visiting Epstein’s infamous Caribbean island compound. But it’s not immediately clear if the island visits took place. Musk has maintained that he repeatedly turned down the disgraced financier’s overtures. “Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED,” he posted on X in 2025.

Another billionaire founder of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson, exchanged numerous emails with Epstein. In a 2013 exchange, Branson invited Epstein to his own private Caribbean island, which regularly hosts large conferences, charity events and business meetings. “Any time you’re in the area would love to see you,” Branson wrote. “As long as you bring your harem!”
Even the US President Donald Trump’s name pops up several times. Trump was friends with Epstein for long, before the two had a falling out. The new trove of documents contain thousands of references to Trump, much of which sheds little additional light on the men’s relationship. They included emails in which Epstein and others shared news articles about Trump, commented on his policies or his politics, or gossiped about him and his family.

Like Trump, another former US President, Bill Clinton spent time with Epstein more than two decades ago, including flying occasionally on his private jet and seeing him at the White House. Clinton also denied any knowledge of Epstein’s wrongdoing. Clinton initially resisted a subpoena by the House Oversight Committee to testify about Epstein, but agreed to appear after it threatened to hold him in contempt of Congress. Clinton issued a statement taking to X .

Latest to resign is Borge Brende, President and CEO, World Economic Forum. Brende was a well-known face on the international business scene due to his position at the WEF, which holds a high-profile annual summit in Davos, Switzerland. Brende quit his role at the forum on Feb. 28 after WEF launched an investigation into his relationship with Epstein. Brende announced his decision after documents released by the U.S. Justice Department showed he had several business dinners with Epstein and had communicated with him over email and text. “I believe now is the right moment for the Forum to continue its important work without distractions.” said Brende.

Another shocking high profile tech giant, Bill Gates too was mentioned in the documents. Gates apologised to staff of his foundation for his ties to Epstein and admitted to two affairs but stated he did not participate in the convicted sex offender’s crimes. At a recent town hall , Gates, the Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist, said it was a “huge mistake to spend time with Epstein” and to bring Gates Foundation executives to meetings with Epstein. “I apologize to other people who are drawn into this because of the mistake that I made,” Gates said.
Shattering, the list is too long to be discussed. It is for the Department of Justice to ensure that no one goes scot free for such heinous crimes to the young, innocent girls and also towards the teenagers who were given a nerve wrenching punishments.
