CUET : After Initial Glitches, Students Can Heave A Sigh Of Relief With The Results In Hand
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) has been a rollercoaster not only for the students and parents but was proving to be quite challenging for the government authorities as well! But as the saying goes, “All is well that ends well” the CUET (UG) results declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) last week were a testimony to that when at least 12 students scored 100 percentile in all five subjects while 104 scored the perfect score in four subjects. These scores were calculated after the process of normalisation, as the exams were conducted in different shifts on different days.
According to Sadhana Parashar, senior director (exams), NTA, “Performance of every candidate has been evaluated using equi-percentile method wherein normalised marks of each candidate have been calculated using the percentiles of each group of students in a given session across multiple days for the same subject,”. A total of 21,159 candidates received a perfect score in at least one subject.
Talking about subjects, English led the race with most number of 100 percentiles with 8,236 candidates scoring the perfect score, followed by Political Science wherein 2,065 scored perfectly. 1669 candidates also scored a perfect score in Business Studies. On the other hand, subjects like Biology, Economics and Psychology also had more than 1000 students to have scored a 100 percentile. According to Parashar, “The merit lists will be prepared by participating universities, who will decide about their individual counselling on the basis of the CUET-UG score card,”.
The CUET 2022, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) 60% attendance of the candidates was recorded. Beginning July, the exams were conducted in two phases and were concluded on 30 August after facing many glitches.
The University of Delhi thus will now consider the subject-based normalised scores as declared by the NTA in the CUET (UG)-2022 scorecards of the candidates for admissions to the undergraduate programs for the academic session 2022-2023. For the same the university has announced the second phase of the admission process, in which the candidates will provide their preferences for programs. The second phase will begin on September 26 and conclude on October 10. The program-specific merit score shall be auto-calculated by the university as per the eligibility criteria and the candidate will have to confirm his or her scores before making the preferences.
For now students are much relieved with results in their hands. CUET is undoubtedly a positive step in reducing the stress levels of the students who earlier were living in constant fear of scoring above 95% to make it to a decent college!
