An irresistible story about women rewriting the rules.

Mira, Simran, Tara, Amaya and Izna.

In the warm refuge of a neighbourhood cafe, five women at very different crossroads find one another. Behind their marriages, careers and family expectations lie disappointments they have learnt not to name—and choices they are not yet brave enough to make.

Each has a past she is not ready to come to terms with—and a question she cannot answer alone.

As friendship takes root, buried truths begin to surface. Can the women trust the world with the parts of themselves they have long suppressed and hidden? Or will they let old fears continue to haunt them? What does it take to let go of the life you knew and claim the one you want?

Moving, sharp and witty, The Un-Wife Club is a poignant novel about female friendships, love and the courage it takes to find your way back to yourself.

Akriti Tyagi says, ‘I spent nearly a decade helping other people’s stories find their way into the world, so there is something wonderfully surreal, and more than a little terrifying, about finally sending out one of my own. The Un-Wife Club began with a simple thought: we spend so much of our lives believing there is a certain way our story is supposed to unfold, until life quietly, and sometimes spectacularly, tears up the script. This book is about what happens next. It is about five women discovering that heartbreak can coexist with hope, that beginning again is an act of courage, and that sometimes the great love story of our lives is the tribe that holds us together while we find our way back to ourselves. I hope readers see something of their own friendships, heartbreaks, difficult choices and second chances in these women, and perhaps come away believing that some of the most beautiful chapters of our lives can be the ones we never planned.’

Rashmi Menon, Publisher, Harper Fiction & Harper Faith, HarperCollins India, says, ‘Funny, moving and wonderfully life affirming, The Un-Wife Club is a celebration of friendship, resilience and the courage it takes to begin again. Through a cast of beautifully drawn-out women characters, Akriti Tyagi explores the complexities of relationships, identity and the expectations that so often define women’s lives. What I love most is that this story makes room for difficult truths and genuine laughter in the same breath, reminding us that even in our most difficult moments, friendship can offer strength, perspective and the possibility of something new. Akriti writes with warmth and wit, making this novel both uplifting and deeply relatable. We are delighted to bring this immensely enjoyable book to readers.’
