Legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni showed that age is no bar as he rolled back years to help Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by Three wickets. Dhoni the finisher with the midas touch smashed Jaydev Unadkat for six and two fours and a two to clinch the match off the last ball. For CSK it was only their second win. While Mumbai Indians it was yet another horror show.

The five time Champions earned the dubious distinction of becoming the only team ever in IPL history to lose seven matches in a row .

Earlier CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai began the way it has been for them this year  in disastrous note . Skipper Rohit Sharma’s dismal form continued with yet another failure this time for 0.  Ishan Kishan fell for 0 as well. Young Dewald Brevis ( 4). Mumbai Indians Innings were in tatters at 23/ 3 in 3 overs. But thanks to knocks by Suryakumar Yadav 32, A 43 ball unbeaten 51 by Tilak Varma, Hrithik Shokeen (25) inconsistent Kieron Pollard ( 14 ), Mumbai could manage a below par 155/ 7 in their 20 overs. Nothing seems to have worked for Mumbai Indians this time around.  The team selection at the auction was horrendous and it is now aptly proven by the results.

CSK bowlers were on top . Mukesh Choudhary was outstanding with 3/ 19 ( 3 overs) , Mitchell Santner 1/ 16 ( 3 overs) , Maheesh Theekshana 1/ 35 ( 4 overs), Ravindra Jadeja 0/ 30 ( 4 overs), Dwaine Pretorius 0/ 17 ( 2 overs), Dwayne Bravo 2/ 36 ( 4 overs)

In reply chasing a modest target, CSK almost made a mess of the chase as they kept on losing wickets . Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad out for ( 0), Robin Uthappa ( 30) , Mitchell Santner ( 11), Ambati Rayudu ( 40), Shivam Dube ( 13) , Skipper *Ravindra Jadeja ( 3). At one stage CSK were 106/ 6 in 15. 4 overs. Mumbai sniffed a chance .  But the wily old fox Mahendra Singh Dhoni had other ideas along with superb support from Dwaine Pretorius ( 22 off 14 balls) . Pretorius kept the chase close as he smacked Bumrah in the next over for two fours releasing the stress off Dhoni’s shoulders.

Unadkat had 17 runs to defend off the last over and although he had Pretorius out LBW off the opening ball, Dhoni smoked the bowler for a six and two fours to take his team across. MSD the greatest finisher had done  it again . Dhoni remained unbeaten on 13 ball 28. Dwayne was Bravo not out 1 as he saw MSD finish the match in style. CSK reaching 156/ 7 in their 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians bowling figures  were :  Daniel Sams 4/ 30 ( 4 overs) , Jasprit Bumrah 0/ 29 ( 4 overs) , Riley Meredith 1/ 25 ( 4 overs) , Jaydev Unadkat 2/ 48 ( 4 overs) , Hrithik Shokeen 0/ 23 ( 4 overs)
