#TATAIPL-2026-20 : Rajat Patidar, Philip Salt’s Fiery Knocks Help Royal Challengers Bengaluru Beat Mumbai Indians By 18 Runs In A High-Scoring Encounter

Defending Champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru came out all guns firing to beat five- time winners Mumbai Indians  by 18 runs in a Tata IPL 2026 run riot match at Wankhede stadium .  MI Skipper Hardik Pandya  won the toss and  decided to bowl first on a good batting surface and lsight due towards the night .

RCB came out all guns blazing, English opener Philip Salt started the carnage blasting the MI bowlers with utter disdain. Salt was was in punishing mood along with opener Virat Kohli. The duo  sate the stage for abig total with a super opening stand (120-1, 10.5) . Salt was out for  a brilliant 78 ( 36 balls, 6 fours, 6 sixes) . Virat Kohli  played well for his 50 ( 38 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) . But the legend appeared disappointed with his knock as he threw his helmet while returning to dug-out  .

RCB Skipper Rajat Patidar was in mood straight away and with blink of an eye with some astonishing hitting raced to  stunning 17- ball 50 . He would score 52 ( 20 balls , 4 fours, 5 sixes). Patidar onslaught stunned MI  and the huge Wankhede crowd . Jitesh Sharma fell for 10. Big hitting finisher Tim David  34 not out  ( 16 balls , 2 fours, 3 sixes)  and Romario Shepard not out 2 saw RCB post a massive 240/4 in their 20 overs

MI top line-up of bolwers Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur , Hardik Pandya felt  the heat  of the RCB aggression. Trent Boult 1/50 ( 4 overs) , Jasprit Bumrah wicketless for the fifth match 0/35 ( 4 overs), Hardik Pandya 1/39 ( 4 overs), Mitchell Santner 1/43 ( 4 overs) first over went for 23  though.  Mayank Markande 0/40 ( 2 overs), Shardul Thakur 1/32 ( 2 overs)

In reply  MI  began positively chasing 241 . Opener Ryan Rickelton began well with 37 ( 22 balls, 3 fours, 3 sixes), Rohit Sharma retired hurt with hamstring injury after scoing 19. Suryakumar Yadav lloked  good but fell for 33 ( 22 balls 5 fours ), Tilak Varma 1, Hardik Pandya scored 40 ( 22 balls, 6 fours, 1 six), Naman Dhir 1 . MI still had hope till Sherfane Rutherford was at the crease . He was devastating in his unbeaten 71 ( 31 balls , 1 four, 9 sixes) but his effort went in vain at the end . Mitchell Santner was the other not out batsman with 8. MI could score 222/5 in their 20 overs. RCB winning by 18 runs.
