Mumbai Indians kept their nerves till the end and snatched a stunning win over Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in a Tata IPL 2025 encounter at , New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley stadium. It ended DC’s winning run of four straight matches. DC were the only team unbeaten so far in the tournament.
Earlier DC Skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first . MI opened with Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. Having sat out of one match and with poor scores of – 0 8, 13. 17 the pressure was on Rohit Sharma to find some form . But sadly , Rohit’s poor form continued as he was out for 18 ( 12 balls , 2 fours, 1 six). MI losing first wicket at 47/ 1 in 4. 6 overs.
Rickelton was unfazed by Rohit exit and played quick innings of 41 ( 25 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) he could have carried on but was unable to do so. Suryakumar Yadav also missed out a big one out for 40 ( 28 balls , 5 fours, 2 sixes) . MI Skipper Hardik Pandya did not bother the scoreboard much out for 2 . As MI struggled to put a big total .
But MI innings did get the big knock and it came from Tilak Varma 59 ( 33 balls , 6 fours, 3 sixes) and and nice unbeaten cameo by Naman Dhir 38 ( 17 balls , 3 ours 2, sixes), Will Jacks was the other not out batsman at 1 . MI finishing at an imposing 205/ 5 in their 20 overs.
DC bowling. Mitchell Starc 0/ 43 ( 3 overs) , Mukesh Kumar 1/ 38 ( 4 overs) , Vipraj Nigam 2/ 41 ( 4 overs) , Kuldeep Yadav 2/ 23 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 0/ 19 ( 2 overs) , Mohit Sharma 0/ 40 ( 3 overs)
In reply , DC lost opener Jake Fraser-McGurk for ( 0) first ball to Deepak Chahar. Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair put the DC chase on track with a fine 119 run-partnership . Poral scored 33 ( 25 balls , 3 fours , 1 six).
Karun Nair scored his first fifty in seven years as he played scintillating knock of 89 ( 40 balls , 12 fours, 5 sixes0 and was unlucky to miss out a hundred. Nair fell to peach of delivery bowled by Kiwi Mitchell Santner. It was the game changing wicket.
Nair’s dismissal saw Delhi Capitals flounder and lost regular wickets to give advantage to MI . KL Rahul ( 15), Axar Patel ( 9) , Tristan Stubbs ( 1), Vipraj Nigam ( 14) . The DC who had the chase under control suddenly collapsed.
In the final over DC had three run-outs totally inexplicable to say the least. Ashutosh Sharma ( 17) run-out, Kuldeep Yadav run-out ( 1) and Mohit Sharma the last man was brilliantly run-out by a direct throw from Mitchell Santner.

Mitchell Starc who can use the long handle was left stranded not out on 1 . DC folding inexplicably at 193/ 10 in 19 overs. MI winning their second game of the season by 12 runs. DC would rue that they had the match in their hands but allowed it to slip away.
