Earlier, South African Skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first. And his bowlers were on target from the start and never allowed India to get away . Centurion in the first match Sanju Samson did not trouble the scorers out for ( 0) . Fellow opener Abhishek Sharma once again fell cheaply for ( 4). Adding to India’s woes Captain Suryakumar Yadav was out for ( 4) . India losing three wickets in power play 15/3 ( 4 overs) .
It was advantage South Africa. And Indian wickets fell in a heap – Tilak Varma ( 20), Axar Patel unfortunately run-out ( 27) , Rinku Singh ( 9), Arshdeep Singh not out ( 7) .
As wickets fell around Hardik Pandya tried his best to lift India’s total remaining not out 39 ( 45 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) . India a below par batting show 124/ 6 in their 20 overs.

In reply , South Africa lost opener Ryan Rickelton ( 13) at the total of 22 . Skipper Aiden Markram fell early for ( 3), Reeza Hendricks ( 24). Marco Jansen mysteriously promoted up the batting order out for ( 7) , Heinrich Klaasen ( 2) , David Miller out for ( 0) sent South Africa in panic mood chasing a modest Indian total . When Miller was dismissed the South Africa total read a miserable 66 / 6 in 12. 2 overs. Andile Simelane out for ( 7 ) meant, Proteas tottering at 86/ 7 in 15. 4 overs
Tristan Stubbs was holding one end but too his horror saw wicket fall in the other end . He needed some support. And the support came from the unlikely fast bowler Gerald Coetzee who played stunning unbeaten cameo 19 ( 9 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) , Stubbs was solid and clam and scored a crucial match- winning unbeaten 47 ( 41 balls, 7 fours) . Stubbs and Coetzee struck a fine unbeaten 42 run partnership to see the Proteas home by three wickets. Bringing huge sigh of relief in the dug-out . South Africa reaching 128/ 7 in 19 overs. The game got close thanks to a brilliant effort by Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy who had stunning figures 5/ 17 ( 4 overs). Unfortunately his efforts went in vain. India just did not have the runs on board.
