Omar Abdullah Slams Centre As Mehbooba Mufti’s Detention Is Extended Further By Three Months

There seems to be no relief for former Jammu And Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti. With the country already under lockdown, the government in late night move has extended her detention under the Public safety Act by another three months.

All political leaders of the state were detained when the Government decided to abrogate Article 370 in August 5, 2019 . And the erstwhile state and bifurcated it into two union territories — Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Mehbooba , initially, was taken into preventive custody. Later on February 5 this year, she was slapped with the PSA.

National Conference Patron and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was released on March 13, while his son and former chief Minister Oamr Abdullah was released on March 24.

After his release Omar had demanded immediate release of all other political leaders of the state. And reacting to Mehbooba’s detention extension Omar in his tweets slammed the Centre.

In another tweet he wrote, For a government that is making tall claims about normality in J&K the last few days coupled with the extension of Ms Mufti’s detention is proof enough that Modi ji has single handedly pushed J&K back decades.
