New Name : Sharad Pawar’s NCP Faction Gets A Name By Election Commission – ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’
The Election Commission has allotted ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ as the party name for the group led by Sharad Pawar.
The order by the poll authority came a day after it gave the Nationalist Congress Party name and the “clock” election symbol to the group led by Ajit Pawar, who had walked away with a majority NCP MLAs in the Maharashtra assembly in July last year.
The Commission had asked the Sharad Pawar group to suggest three names of which one could be allotted in view of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
Earlier reacting to the EC verdict, Supriya Sule, Baramati MP sand Sharad Pawar’s daughter said the party would go to the Supreme Court against the verdict.
“…Our documents were fine. The founder member and founder leader of this party is only Sharad Pawar…But the atmosphere is something else right now. There is an ‘adrishya shakti’ in the country which is doing all this. We will fight…We will definitely go to Supreme Court…,” Sule said.
“…I think what happened with Shiv Sena is what is happening with us today. So, this is not a new order. Just the names have been changed but the content is the same…” she said.
