J&K Roadmap: Farooq Abdullah Confirms, Gupkar Alliance Leaders To Attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s June 24 Meeting
Ending their suspense over their participation, the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration will attend the all-party convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alliance chairperson Farooq Abdullah said.
The announcement came after PAGD leaders met at Abdullah’s Gupkar Road residence in Srinagar to discuss the Centre’s invitation.
The leaders of the constituent parties, including Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti and Communist Party of India-Marxist leader M Y Tarigami, arrived at the residence of Abdullah, who is also the National Conference president, at 11 am.
Over the past two days, Jammu and Kashmir’s political parties held intra-party discussions.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should hold talks with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Gupkar alliance, she said that the “Prime Minister should talk to Pakistan too”. Mufti said that the alliance leaders will attend the meeting called by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 24. She said that the leaders will put forth their views and press for demand to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Further as quoted by ANI, Mufti said, the government is holding dialogue with the Taliban in Doha. They should hold dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir. They should also hold talks with Pakistan for resolution of issues.
