#JammuAndKashmirPolls: Crucial 2nd Phase For 26 Seats ; Big Test For Former CM Omar Abdullah, BJP State Chief Ravinder Raina
The second phase, covering the three central Kashmir districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam, will decide the fate of 239 candidates across 26 assembly segments
Over 2.5 million voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates in the fray for 26 Jammu and Kashmir assembly seats in the second phase of the election to be held in the Union territory .
The second phase, covering the three central Kashmir districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam, will decide the fate of 239 candidates across 26 assembly segments including 79 in the Pir Panjal region of Jammu.
Prominent names whose fate will be sealed in the second phase are – National Conference Voice- president and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, JKPCC president Tariq Hamid Karra , BJP J-K chief Ravinder Raina.
Omar Abdullah is contesting the polls from two assembly seats – Ganderbal and Budgam, while Karra is contesting from Central Shalteng. J-K BJP chief Ravinder Raina will be contesting the polls from Nowshera in Rajouri, a seat he has held since 2014.
These assembly constituencies are spread over six districts – three in the Valley and as many in the Jammu division.
“To facilitate smooth and hassle-free electoral participation, the Election Commission of India has established 3,502 polling stations in these segments. There are 1,056 urban polling stations and 2,446 rural polling stations,” an official said.
