With The National Conference putting up an impressive show and set to form the next government along with alliance party Congress, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said that he was happy that the people made National Congress win with their votes.

“We should wait for the final results to come. Only after that we can say something. As of now, I am really happy that NC has got victory and we are thankful to the voters. People have supported us more than we expected. It will now be our efforts to prove that we are worth these votes,” Abdullah said.

Omar after winning from both the seats Ganderbal and Budgam assembly told ANI , “In the end, the people are masters… People decide if they like us or not. Two months ago, I lost the elections, and now I won. I am the same person, belong to the same family, and there was no change in my politics. But two months ago, I lost, and now I have won…”

Further, he said that efforts were made by the competitors to completely finish the National Conference party over the last five years.

“Efforts were being made by other political parties to completely finish the National Conference party since the last five years. However, those who tried to finish us have lost themselves today,” he added.

Omar Abdullah also asserted there should be no “fiddling” with the mandate of people in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Centre and the Raj Bhavan must not indulge in any “machinations”.

“Transparency should be there. Whatever happens should be done in a transparent manner. There should be no fiddling with the peoples’ mandate. If the mandate of the people is against the BJP, then the BJP should not indulge in any ‘jugaad’ (machinations) or something else,” Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar as early trends from counting of votes showed the party ahead of the BJP and other rivals.

Meanwhile after the victory,  National Conference president Farooq Abdullah announced  that “Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister,” the senior Abdullah told reporters when asked who would be the alliance’s CM face.

The NC president also said the verdict was a proof that the people of J-K were against the abrogation of Article 370.
