Introducing Brachio: A Towering New Children’s Fable from HarperCollins Children’s Books
Tina Narang, Executive Publisher – HarperCollins Children’s Books India says, “We are proud to publish Brachio, a book that will easily stand out as one of our tallest not just for its size but also for its brilliant story and illustrations. Venkataraghavan’s delightful story about a tall, very tall character sits within a book taller than most and is accompanied by Ananya Broker Parekh’s stunning illustrations. It’s unmissable, truly outstanding and a very special book.”
Talking about the book, author Venkataraghavan Srinivasan notes, “Children love to compare their heights, so imagine what it would be like to be toweringly tall. I am such a person, tall enough to touch most ceilings. I wrote Brachio as a fun, fable-like story about a tremendously tall person that explores larger themes of friendship and self-worth. Are Brachio’s friends only using him for his height? How can he be more than just a tall guy? What does being tall really mean? For readers aged 7+, Brachio is the most gorgeous, visually striking book you’ll own this year.”
Illustrator Ananya Broker Parekh remarks, “It was such a joy building Brachio’s very tall, slightly topsy-turvy world with scraps of cloth, patterned bits of paper, and lots of glue to hold it all together. Brachio reminds me that everyone’s a little different in their own way, and that’s what makes life so interesting.”
