On a spin friendly wicket at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India beat England by seven wickets in low scoring encounter. India thus takes a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Earlier India Skipper Suryakumar Yadav read the pitch well and opted to bowl first. And his bowlers justified his move as they ran through the English batting line- up with regular wickets . England lost openers Philip Salt (0) and Ben Duckett ( 4) cheaply . Both fell to Arshdeep Singh. Singh in the process became India’s Highest wicket- taker in T20I’s. Harry Brook ( 17) , Liam Livingstone ( 0) and others Jacob Bethell ( 7), Jamie Overton ( 2), Gus Atkinson ( 2) fell in a heap . Jofra Archer ( 12), Adil Rashid ( 8).

Had not England Skipper Jos Buttler played an captain’s kncok England’s total would have been in double figures . Buttler was impressive in his power packed innings of 68 ( 44 balls, 8 fours , 2 sixes) . England were eventually bowled out for a below par 132.
India bowlers did a good job : Arshdeep Singh 2/ 17 ( 4 overs) . Hardik Pandya 2/ 42 ( 4 overs), Varun Chakravarthy 3/ 23 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 2/ 22, Ravi Bishnoi 0/ 22 ( 4 overs)
India in reply were in a hurry with openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma . Samson fell after scoring a quick 26 ( 20 balls 4 fours, 1 six) Skipper Suryakumar Yadav did not disturb the scorers out for ( 0) . But it was opener Abhishek Sharma who stole limelight with his attacking innings that paved the way for an Indian win. Abhishek hit shots all over- the ground in his blazing 34 ball 79 ( 5 fours and 8 sixes) . When he fell it was only formality left as Tilak Varma ( 19 ) not out and Hardik Pandya not out ( 3) saw India comfortably home as India reach 132/ 3 in just 12. 5 overs. Much to the delight of the crowds at Eden Gardens.
England had an off day and target was just to little to defend : Jofra Archer 2/ 21 ( 4 overs) , Gus Atkinson 0/ 38 ( 2 overs), Mark Wood 0/ 25 ( 2.5 overs), Adil Rashid 1/ 27 ( 2 overs), Jamie Overton 0/ 10 ( 1 over) Liam Livingstone 0/ 7 ( 1 over)
