In a high-scoring encounter on day with with clear skies at Lord’s London, England beat India in the third ODI by 27 runs. With this win England clinched the series 2-1. This after English Skipper Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bat first.
Brook’s move paid off handsomely as English openers – Jacob bethell and Ben Duckett toyed with the listless and wayward Indian seam bowlers who bowled a wrong line and length. And a result English batsmen took them to the cleaners. The duo of Duckett and Bethell put on a superb 192 run opening stand. Setting the stage for a big total with plenty of firepower waiting. Duckett smashed 141 ( 135 Balls 18 fours, 1 six), Bethell unlucky not get one missed out on a well made 91 ( 93 balls 11 fours, 2 sixes)
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah India bowling looked out of sorts. A big worrying sign for Team India ahead. India’s misery did not end there . In good form Joe Root continued the carnage with a superb 74 not out ( 48 balls, 9 fours) , Skipper Harry Brook was out for 14. Towards the end Jos Buttler gave the huge crowd the entertainment with a blistering unbeaten cameo 41 not out ( 13 balls 3 fours, 3 sixes) . Buttler blitz powered England to an imposing total of 387/3 in their 50 overs .
Indian bowling attack was hammered the figures said it all – Arshdeep Singh 0/72 ( 10 overs) , Prasidh Krishna 2/69 ( 10 overs), Prince Yadav 1/79 ( 10 overs), Gurnoor Brar 0/97 ( 10 overs) missed a hundred !, Axar patel 0/61 ( 10 overs)
Chasing a big target , India Skipper Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave the right intent with superb opening stand putting on 147-1, 24.2 overs. Gill was first to go for a fine 77 ( 84 balls 10 fours, 1 six) . With alot of talk about his retirement, Hit man Rohit Sharma did what he does best- play a brilliant innings . This time hitting his 34th ODI ton. Rohit was in sublime touch from the start and was not at all tentative like his earlier knocks. He was aggressive and the numbers proved that 138 ( 110 balls , 17 fours, 5 sixes).

King Kohli too looked in fine touch and scored a attacking 74 ( 60 balls 4 fours 3 sixes). But the middle- order flopped – Ishan Kishan 14 , Shreyas Iyer 0 , K L Rahul 12 , Axar Patel 2 . The chase was well and truly over. Gurnoor Brar not out 18 and Arshdeep Singh not out 15 ensured India finished at 360/7 in their 50 overs. England winning by 27 runs. It was ironic that Rohit Sharma’s brilliant ton went in vain for India at the end .
