#UttarakhandElections2022 : Setback For Congress, Former State Party Chief Kishore Upadhyay Joins BJP
In yet another setback for the Congress this time in Uttarakhand, former state chief , Kishore Upadhyay, has switched sides and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Dehradun, ahead of the Uttarakhand Election 2022.
Upadhyay was expelled from the Congress for six years for “anti-party activities”. He was earlier removed from all posts as a disciplinary action.
Speaking to ANI, Upadhyay had this to say, I have joined BJP with the spirit of taking Uttarakhand forward. You should ask Congress why such a situation has risen.
Earlier, Congress released its third list of candidates for the polls which did not mention Upadhyay. This further increased speculation of him joining the BJP.
Sources close to Upadhyay told ANI that he wanted the revocation of suspension from all party posts and had conveyed this to the Congress leadership too.
Upadhyay was removed from all the party posts recently as a disciplinary action.
