All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi has  condemned a video of Red Fort suicide bomber, saying suicide is ‘haram‘ in Islam and the killing of innocents is a ‘grave sin’. Haram refers to anything prohibited by Islamic law.

The Hyderabad MP also sought a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the recent blast in Delhi, questioning how such an attack could occur in the national capital, where law and order is the responsibility of the central government.

“This is a terrorist act. Innocent people have died. This is an outright crime and a sin. We all need to condemn it and ask the government for accountability,” Owaisi told reporters in Hyderabad.

“The government should answer this. In Delhi, the security and police responsibility lies with the Central government, so the PM should answer this,” he added.

Referring to the undated video of Dr Umar-un-Nabi circulating in the media, Owaisi said it shows the Delhi blast accused using terms like “suicide bombing” and “martyrdom”, calling the act ‘misunderstood’.

“This is a serious crime and an act of terrorism. This is not martyrdom,” he added.
