#TATAIPL2022: Match 44 : Mumbai Indians Finally Win First Of The Season , Suryakumar Yadav Leads Them To A Five Wicket Win Over Rajasthan Royals
After losing eight matches in what has been a horrendous TataIPL 2022, Mumbai Indians finally won their first match of the season. In the 44th match , Mumbai Indians beat the Rajasthan Royals by five wickets at The DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and fielded first. Royals lost opener Devdutt Padikkal early at the total of 26 for 16 . In-from and orange cap holder Jos Buttler continued his dream from as he smashed yet another fine knock a 52 ball 67 with five fours and four sixes. Royals Skipper Sanju Samson was out for 16. As The Royals batting slumped in the middle stages . Daryl Mitchell ( 17), the big hitting Shimron Hetmyer was not out 6, Ravichandran Ashwin ( 21), Riyan Parag (3). The Royals just managed to put a decent total of 158/ 6 in their 20overs.
For Mumbai Indians : Hrithik Shokeen 2/ 47 ( 3 overs), Riley Meredith 2/ 24 ( 4 overs), Daniel Sams 1/ 32 ( 4 overs) , Kumar Kartikeya 1/ 19 ( 4 overs) were the wicket- takers. Jasprit Bumrahs poor show continued 0/ 27 ( 4 overs)
In reply , Mumbai were in for a shock as out of form Skipper Rohit Sharma was out early yet again for 2. Ishan Kishan blasted his back to some form with a 18 ball 26 . But it was Suryakumar Yadav with a cool and calm 39 ball 51 with five fours and two sixes and Tilak Varma ( 35) put Mumbai back on course for their first win. The duo added 81 for the third wicket. Kieron Pollard in poor form with the bat was dismissed for 10. Tim David not out with 9 ball 20 and Daniel Sams not out 6 ensured Mumbai did not lose wicket further and they reached 161/ 5 in 19. 2 overs with five wickets. Much to the huge sigh of relief on Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma’s face at the end.
For The Royals : Trent Boult 1/ 26 ( 3 overs) he struggled with his line and length. Prasidh Krishna 1/ 29 ( 4 overs) , Ravichandran Ashwin 1/ 21( 4 overs) the prized wicket of Rohit Sharma. Daryl Mitchell gave away 20 in his one and only over putting a question mark on Royals skipper Sanju Samson’s move to bowl a part- timer in the middle stages. Yuzvendra Chahal 1/ 33 ( 4 overs) , Kuldeep Sen 1/ 29 ( 3 .2 overs)
