#TATAIPL2022 : Match 22 : Robin Uthappa, Shivam Dube Shine As CSK End Losing Streak, Beat RCB By 23 Runs
Chennai Super Kings after losing their first four matches desperately needed a win to revive their campaign. And the 22nd match of The Tata IPL 2022 gave them just that. The men in yellow beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs to earn valuable two points
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and put CSK in. Ruturaj Gaikwad struggling for from scored 17. Moeen Ali fell for 3. The total was 36/2 in 6.4 overs. What followed was sensational . Seasoned Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube put together a fabulous 165 run partnership and literally batted RCB out of the game .
Uthappa was brilliant with a power packed 50 ball 88 with four fours and 9 sixes. He hammered the RCB bowlers all around the ground . Shivam Dube too joined the party and already in impressive form, Dube was unlucky not to score a hundred as he remained unbeaten on 46 ball 95 an innings studded with five fours and 8 sixes. Thanks to Uthappa and Dube , CSK reached a formidable 216/ 4 in their 20 overs.
RCB bowling wilted under Uthappa, Dube onslaught and the figures said it all : Mohammed Siraj 0/ 37 ( 4 overs), Josh Hazlewood 1/ 33 ( 4 overs) plying his first match. Akash Deep 0/58 ( 4 overs) , Glenn Maxwell 0/29 ( 3 overs), Shahbaz Ahmed 0/18 ( 2 overs), Wanindu Hasaranga 2/35 ( 3 overs)
Chasing a mammoth target RCB needed to fire from the start as the required rate was high. But RCB began is disastrous fashion. Skipper Faf du Plessis out for ( 8), Anuj Rawat ( 12) and Virat Kohli ( 1) were dismissed early . The chase was never really on. Glenn Maxwell scored a quick 11 ball 26 with two fours and two sixes. But the big innings never came . Shahbaz Ahmed scored a 27 ball 41. Suyash Prabhudessai hit a promising 18 ball 34 with five fours and one six. Finisher Dinesh Karthik scored a 14 ball 34 with two fours and three sixes. But the CSK total was bit too far. RCB finishing at 193/9 in their 20 overs . CSK winning by 23 runs.
