A disciplined bolwing performance by Delhi Capitals enabled them to beat defending Champions Royals Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets in Tata IPL2026 encounter on hot afternoon in Bengaluru.
DC Skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field. His bowlers did a fine job restricting the power batting line-up of RCB . RCB openers Virat Kohli and Philip Salt were steady and could manage a total 52-1, 5.1 overs. Kohli was out 19 to slow ball by Ngidi. Salt went on to score a fine 63 ( 38 balls , 4 fours , 3 sixes). DC hit back with wickets of in- from RCB Skipper Rajat Patidar 8 and Devdutt Padikkal 18. RCB suddenly lost the momentum .
The dangerous Tim David fell for 26, Jitesh Sharma 14, Romario Shepherd 1, Krunal Pandya run-out 12 . The big innings for RCB and the power finish never came . Rasikh Salam not out 0 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar not out 3 and RCB finished eventually at a below par 175/8 in their 20 overs
DC bolwers bolwed to a plan and it worked well . Auqib Nabi Dar 0/36 ( 3 overs), Mukesh Kumar 1/32 ( 4 overs), Lungi Ngidi 2/39 ( 4 overs), Kuldeep Yadav 2/32 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 2/18 ) 3 overs), T Natarajan 0/16 ( 2 overs)
In reply, Delhi Capitals were rocked early. Opener Pathum Nissanka out for 1 , Karun Nair 5, Sameer Rizvi 2 with the tola reeling at 20-3, 2.5 overs . Seasoned seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged all the three wickets . Fortunately for Delhi Capitals K L Rahul was cool and calm even as wickets feel around him and scored a fine 57 ( 34 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes).
Tristan Stubbs too played an important innings and remained not out at 60 ( 47 balls, 4 fours 1 six), Skipper Axar Patel retired hut at 26. It was left to experianced David Miller at the end to finish off the match in the last over of the match. Miller remained not out 22 ( 10 balls , 1 four, 2 sixes) as Delhi Capitals reached 179/4 in 19.5 overs. One ball to spare was pretty close call.
