#TATAIPL-2026-18 : Sanju Samson Smashes Scintillating Unbeaten 115, Jamie Overton Bags 4/18 As Chennai Super Kings Register First Win, Beat Delhi Capitals By 23 Runs

Five- time winners Chennai Super Kings finally gave their home fans reason  to cheer as they won their first match this season by outclassing  Delhi Capitals by 23 runs  in a Tata IPL 2026 encounter   . Earlier, Delhi Capitals Skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field first .

And CSK  at home took full advantage of the DC move . CSK got off the mark quickly 62-1, 6.2 overs, Gailwad was first to go for 15 . Facing flak for poor scores in earlier matches Sanju Samson finally came to party and  blasted his way back to form with  the first 100 of  Tata IPL 2026 and first ton for his new franchise . Samson was in his elements like was in the victorious T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.  His innings was classy one  an unbeaten 115 ( 56 balls , 15 fours , 4 sixes).

The  young Ayush Mhatre too chipped in with aggressive  59 ( 36 balls , 3 fours, 4 sixes) before he was retired out. Shivam Dube  not out 20 as CSK finished with an impressive 212/1 in their 20 overs

DC bowlers were sent on a leather hunt.  Auqib Nabi Dar 0/17 ( 2 overs), Mukesh Kumar 0/37 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 1/39 ( 4 overs), T Natarajan 0/54 ( 4 overs), Lungi Ngidi 0/41 ( 4 overs), Kuldeep Yadav 0/24 ( 2 overs)

In reply chasing 21 3 DC were in spot of bother with loss of early wickets.  Openers  Pathum Nissanka and K Rahul put on 61-1, 5 overs.  K L Rahul was out for 18, Nissanka 41 ( 24 balls 5 fours 2 sixes), another failure for Sameer Rizvi 6 , Skipper Axar Patel 1 , no david Miller heroics this time out for 17. Tristan Stubbs raised hopes with a fine 60  ( 38 balls 5 fours, 4 sixes), Ashutosh Sharma 19, Auqib Nabi Dar 4.

Kuldeep Yadav was out for 4  and Lungi Ngidi dismissed for 3. T Natarajan was not out 1. DC were bundled out for 189/10 in their 20 overs . CSK winning by 23 runs
