#TATAIPL-2024-56 : In A High-Scoring Thriller Delhi Capitals Beat Rajasthan Royals By 20 Runs; Sanju Samson’s Blitz Goes In Vain

In a high-scoring Tata IPL 2024 encounter Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital. On a track that was run feast for all . With this win DC now moves to the fifth in the points table.

Earlier, RR Skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first . And DC batsmen were on the rampage for the start. Aussie sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk was devastating  50 ( 20 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes) .

Abishek Porel scored an equally impressive 65 ( 36 balls, 7 fours  , 3 sixes) . DC were on course for big total but other batsmen could not get the move on but fell quickly Shai Hope ( 1) , Axar Patel ( 15), Skipper Rishabh Pant ( 15) , Gulbadin Naib ( 19) , Rasikh Salam ( 9) .

DC crossed the 200 plus mark thanks to the brilliant  cameo  towards the end by  Tristan Stubbs 41 ( 20 balls, 3 fours, 3 sixes) . DC eventually finishing at a an imposing 221/ 8 in their 20 overs.

RR bowling  : Trent Boult 1/ 48 ( 4 overs), Sandeep Sharma 1/ 42 ( 4 overs), Avesh Khan 0/ 42 ( 2 overs), Ravichandran Ashwin 3/ 24 ( 4 overs) his best so far . Riyan Parag 0/ 17 ( 2 overs) , Yuzvendra Chahal 1/ 48 ( 4 overs)

In reply to the mammoth chase ,  RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal ( 4)   and Jos Buttler ( 19 ) fell  early to jolt the batting.  Riyan Parag ( 27 ) , Shubham Dubey ( 25) got starts but could not carry on.  Rovman Powell known for his power was out for ( 13) .

RR could get close to the DC total largely due to the brilliance by Sanju Samson. The RR skipper was simply sensational with  his range of shots and  played a scintillating innings of  86  ( 46 Balls , 8 fours, 6 sixes). It was stunning knock which unfortunately went in vain. Other RR batsmen flopped – Donovan Ferreira ( 1), Ravichandran Ashwin ( 2) . Trent Boult  not out 2 and Avesh Khan not out 7  were at the end as  RR finished at 201/ 8 in their 20 overs. DC winning by 20 runs
