External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Vientiane on the sidelines of the East Asia summit and discusses bilateral ties and situation at the border.
Jaishankar and Wang agree to give strong guidance to complete disengagement process.
Must ensure full respect for Line of Actual Control and past agreements. It is in our mutual interest to stabilise ties, Jaishankar tells Wang, PTI reports.

On the meeting Jaishankar quoted by ANI said, “I am very glad that we could meet today on the sidelines of East Asia Summit Foreign Minister’s meeting…I believe today that our conversation provides us another opportunity to take forward the ongoing discussions… Our ability to ensure that they (India-China ties) are stable and forward-looking is essential, both for the prospects of Asia and that of the multipolar world. There are also issues on which our interests converge. In our previous meeting, we had both agreed in this regard…You are aware that the disturbance to peace and tranquillity in our border areas cast a shadow on our ties for the last 4 years. We have both made efforts to resolve the issues, our endeavour is to complete that process…”
