#SSR Probe: Bombay HC Grants Bail To Rhea Chakraborty, Brother Showik’s Plea Rejected
In a stunning development in the SSR death case, Bombay High Court has granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty while rejecting the bail plea of her brother Showik Chakraborty.
Narcotics Control Bureau had arrested them in connection with a drugs case related to Sushant Singh Rajput death. The court also granted bail to Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant
Plea was heard by a single bench of Justice S V Kotwal in the Bombay High Court. Rhea Chakrabarty was arrested on September 8 based on old WhatsApp messages and now retracted statements. The NCB had accused her of being an active member of a drugs syndicate and managing the finances for drug procurement.
While Rhea was granted bail after one month on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh, the high court rejected the plea of her brother Showik Chakraborty.
Rhea Chakraborty should mark her present for ten days in the nearest police station for ten days after release. She should deposit her passport and should not travel outside the country without the prior permission of the court, states Bombay high court, as reported by CNN- IBN.
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has accused late Sushant Singh Rajput’s family of “interfering and tampering with the investigations” by CBI and has warned that he will bring it to the notice of the appropriate courts. “The CBI is independently and impartially investigating both the cases and the agency is supposed to be insulated and free from any interference,” Maneshinde said, referring to the probe into the actor’s death and the offshoot drugs cases.
